Coach Spotlight: Stephanie

Why CrossFit?

I love CrossFit because it’s shown me what I am capable of and what is possible. I grew up thinking I always had to be skinny, and I was very weak! CrossFit has not only helped me become stronger physically and mentally, but it has helped boost my confidence and has brought me to people I call close friends and even family.

How did you end up as a CrossFit coach? What path brought you here?

I became a CrossFit coach a little after I moved back to the States. I lived in Sydney, Australia for 8 years where I worked in immunology research. After a very long battle trying to get a visa to stay, I decided I needed a break from science. I knew for sure I didn’t want to sit at a desk, so becoming a trainer/coach made the most sense.

What can EVF athletes expect from you as a coach?

Fitness should be fun so coming to take class should never be stressful. As a coach, I want to make sure you work hard but also have a good time. I’m there to encourage you. If you miss a lift, it’s okay, you’ll get it next time!

What do you love most about coaching your members?

I love that everyone is there to work hard and to better themselves. I particularly love EVF because of its large community. It’s like everyone is family.

What is your athletic background? Any notable accomplishments?

I actually hated sports when I was younger, but I did run track in high school.

What’s your favorite movement to teach? To do yourself?

Anything with a barbell. Can I say curls? Haha (jk). Probably snatching because I used to be terrified of doing them but now they’re a lot of fun.

Where can we find you when you’re not at EVF?

At the beach/trying to find the sun. Or at a rave.

Let’s hear three random facts about you.

  1. I have been to every continent.
  2. I wanted to be a race car driver when I was younger.
  3. I was born on Friday the 13th!

Is there anything else you want people to know about you?

I’m always down for a workout involving food. Let me know when and where!
