CrossFit Level 1 Coach and Personal Trainer
A Philadelphia native, Matt grew up with a passion for fitness and a particular interest in winter sports – skiing competitively and devoting many years to playing and coaching ice hockey.
A former Wall Street career in sales and trading helped lay a foundation of determination and perseverance, and a desire to simply be better. Matt decided to dedicate himself to fitness full-time to help him become the best he could be, and provide an opportunity for him to share this approach with others. He’s continually inspired by his EVF Performance colleagues and motivated by the efforts and progress of the EVF community of athletes.
Matt is a family man in and out of the gym. In addition to his CrossFit certification, he’s CrossFit Kids certified with a concentration in pre-natal and post-natal training. He’s the proud father of a 2 year-old who refers to him as “super daddy”, and teaches a weekly gymnastics class for 2-4 year-olds at his son’s daycare.
Along with his love of the physical and mental challenges provided by CrossFit, Matt has a passion for the outdoors and can often be found in NYC parks training athletes of all levels and abilities. He takes a holistic approach to fitness and strongly believes in complementing exercise with proper nutrition – personally following a Paleo diet.
When Matt’s not training clients, he’s training himself. His favorite workout is CIndy and he’s not afraid to admit he fears Fran (noting, “who doesn’t fear Fran?”). Outside the box, Matt’s an avid Philly sports fan and loves going to concerts, movies, and making Paleo-friendly “Food Network-quality” food to impress his wife.
