Coach Spotlight: Joseph
Why CrossFit?
I chose CrossFit because it was similar to the workouts/atmosphere I experienced in college athletics. After graduation, I felt that was missing from my life. Once I became involved and learned the methodology and science of it, I was hooked. Building athletes that are well rounded and skilled in everything is a cool model and one I can endorse.
What can EVF athletes expect from you as a coach?
The occasional pun. A lighthearted atmosphere but with focused intensity to get the best results. And also a keen eye that can spot minor flaws in movement that, once addressed, can lead to significant improvements.
What’s your favorite CrossFit workout or exercise? Do you have an arch nemesis?
My favorite CrossFit movement would be power cleans. I’m good at them. My arch nemesis would the thruster. I hate them, and they hate me. So at least we agree on something.
Where can we find you when you’re not at EVF?
Seeing a Broadway show or doing something fun outside. I enjoy pickup basketball and flag football.
Very important questions: favorite food, movie and band?
Favorite food(s)? The worst ones. Pizza mostly. We are in a long term relationship. It’s pretty special.
Movie? There are so many. But my all time number one has to be “Patton” with George C. Scott playing the title role.
Band? I don’t really have one. When I listen to music it’s never one artist that speaks to me and no others. I have a pretty wide taste. Although, my fave rapper is Jeezy!
Let’s hear three random facts about you.
1. My hometown has a population of around 500.
2. In my lifetime I have sailed enough nautical miles to circumnavigate the globe 1.5 times.
3. I can eat fire.
