EVF Battle Of The Fittest Information
Good morning folks and happy pre competition eve!
Below are some helpful tips a few minor changes and tomorrow’s schedule.
I had previously said I would hope to conclude by 1pm. With the amazing turnout and response from our community the participation has increased the number of heats.
The doors will open at 8am and athlete briefing will be at 8:45 with the first heat kicking off at 9am. Meaning get here and start warming up.
Meaning it will be an all day affair that if we can remain on schedule will conclude by 3:11pm with the finals beginning at 3:31pm
Bring light snacks, water, gatorade, pre workout, lawn chairs etc. This is going to be an all day affair and you are going to want to be prepared. Of course the awesome thing is you can always run home 🙂
The minor changes are the time for WOD 1. It will be 8 minutes instead of 10 minutes to find a 1RM clean. You will have plenty of time.
You are responsible for warming up and being ready to go when your heat time is called.
There will be warm up space in the back corner. Because there are three workouts you will need to warm up three times. Look to start warming up 20 minutes prior to your heat.
The day will go like this
Women’s Scaled
Heats 1 and 2
Men scaled
Heat 3
Women’s RX
Heats 4 and 5
Mens RX
Heats 6,7 and 8
We will have 5 Minutes in between heats and 20 minutes in between events. It is all dependent on your ability to listen and be ready that will make this day go smooth.
Once your heat is called you will go to a judge and that judge will be there to score and count for you.
I will go through the standards of each workout before they each begin. Please pay attention during these moments so that you are aware of what the standards will be.
Listen to your judge and do not get upset if you are NO-repped. Please show your judges respect and hold yourself accountable for any missed reps.
If there is a disagreement with a judge please continue and we will discuss after the event.
Not only is your physical abilities my concern but also in the manner in which my athletes conduct themselves at events such as this one.
Always maintain your integrity and be respectful of your peers.
With that being said tomorrow is going to be an amazing day. I want you all to enjoy this experience with each other. Tomorrow is not about who wins or who lifts the most. Tomorrow is about giving your best effort, supporting your fellow competitors and celebrating your fitness journey along with your community.
Tomorrow you get a very rare opportunity. The opportunity to push your physical and mental limits. The opportunity to see what your made of. I say it is rare because most people do not create or get the chance to have those moments for themselves.
Be proud for just stepping out there. I am very, very proud of all of you for participating. For most of you this is your first taste of competitive CrossFit. For some another chance to gain some competition experience.
This is a unique situation as were all one big family to begin with. Everyone wants you all to do great and we all will be there to support each of you. I cant wait to watch you do things you never even thought you were capable of.
Rest up, eat good, organize all your funky clothes and crazy socks that you will be wearing. Make sure you have your EVF swag on. We are taking lots of pictures.
I will leave you with one of my all time favorite quote’s:
“I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle – victorious.”
