Meet the Coach – Evan Sibley
Meet Evan Sibley, our new coach at Upper East Side! Evan will be taking over our kids program, as well as our on ramp program for new CrossFitters. Look for him subbing classes as well on a regular basis. We’re thrilled to have him on our team!
Years CrossFitting:
Just over 6.
What do you specialize in?:
Having fun and understanding what I’m doing.
What are you passionate about?:
My relationships, acting, Super Smash Bros (Melee or BUST)
What do you love most about coaching your members?:
I love a delayed a-ha moment. When you give some advice and it’s brushed off one day. Then days, weeks, maybe months later that person comes up to you and says that what you said really helped them. It doesn’t have to get better today. Just someday.
What is your athletic background? Any notable accomplishments?:
My brother won the Massachusetts state championship in the 100m freestyle… I’m flexible?
How did you end up as a CrossFit coach? What path brought you here?:
I had been doing CrossFit for 4 years when I joined EVF CrossFit Columbus Circle. I saw how much of a role model those coaches were there and I knew that I wanted to be that person for others. So I got my Level 1 and started coaching at CrossFit Queens when I moved to Astoria. I coached there for 2 years and now I’ve returned to EVF!
What’s your favorite movement to teach? To do yourself?:
Teach: double unders. Do: running (yes… you read that right).
Favorite quote:
Ever tried? Ever failed? Good. Fail. Fail again. Fail better. ~Samuel Beckett
What else should people know about you?:
Don’t cheat or “lose count of reps” in my class. I will call it out. xoxo gossip girl.
