New CrossFit Cycle Starts Monday
Our upcoming cycle will start Monday, March 9th and will continue through May 8th. The next eight weeks will focus on continuing to build strength in our back squats, overhead lifts, and bench press, as well as improving technique in the snatch. We’ll focus on developing our strict pull up strength, and developing proficiency upside down in handstand push ups and/or handstand walks.
Monday’s back squat cycle will be broken up into three 3-week blocks, alternating between heavy sets (week one), pause squats (week two), and speed/volume work (week three).
On Tuesdays, we’ll work on push press, supersetting with strict or weighted pull ups. This classic push/pull couplet will not only develop upper body strength, but also speed and explosiveness in the lower body that will translate to our Olympic lifts.
Wednesday will be our hero/benchmark day. The strength or skill work will vary from week to week, depending on what we’re doing on that particular day in the workout. Look forward to some longer Heroes, as well as some classic Girls of varying time domains. Be sure to record your scores – we’ll be re-testing at the end of the year!
On Fridays, we’ll snatch, utilizing lots of complex work, pulls, and overhead squats. Whatever your weakness in the snatch may be, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to work on it in the coming weeks.
Saturdays will continue to be partner workouts, and bench press will continue on Sundays.
Rest up this weekend and get ready to work on Monday. Looking forward to some great progress this cycle!
