Rules to WOD By
A few reminders care of Coach Nicole.
1. Check your ego at the door. Continually pursue virtuosity in foundational movements. Be patient, trust the process, and you will see progress over time.
2. Introduce yourself to new members. Show them the proper way to load and unload a bar, how to properly chalk up without giving the rest of us lung cancer with a plume of chalk dust, or tell them one more time where 400m is. Don’t forget you used to be a newbie too!
3. Drop the negativity. This is our happy place — a place to turn on the music, lift heavy things and blow off steam. Let’s keep it that way. If you have beef with something or someone, find a coach or EVF staff member and sort things out privately.
4. Don’t gossip. It always comes back to the person. Life lesson right there. You’re welcome.
5. Lend a hand. Help clean up a bar if someone is still suffering and you are recovered. Encourage and cheer on your friends.
6. Clean up after yourself. Every member deserves a clean, neat and orderly space. Put your equipment away and wipe down (and dry) your chalky, sweaty and bloody bars, wall balls, kettlebells and rowers. Don’t forger to wipe up chalk messes.
7. Handle the equipment properly. Don’t drop bars, ever, including those without plates on them. And, FYI, wall balls aren’t chairs. Sitting on them creates divots in the balls. You’re here to get fit, so stand up.
8. Respect your coaches. Resist chatting with your friends for a minute and listen to instruction. Pay attention to what your coach is saying — even when what he or she are telling you isn’t what you necessarily want to hear (Defer to Rule 1).
9. Embrace the pain. It’s gonna hurt sometimes. Suck it up.
10. WOD happy. Because the rep doesn’t count if you aren’t smiling.
