In July 2012, Paige was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma at four months of age. Retinoblastoma is a rare but treatable childhood cancer affecting the retina. Her left eye was removed and pathology indicated that although the cancer spread beyond the eye and into the optic nerve, it was contained and no further treatment would be necessary.

However, just two months later a follow up exam of the remaining eye revealed four new tumors. Paige underwent six rounds of chemotherapy and laser therapy over a six month period. In February, Paige was declared to be in cancer remission and she completed her final round of chemotherapy in March.
Unfortunately, in late June 2013, we learned that after being off-therapy for three months, one of Paige’s tumors had regrown. The only remaining and viable option to save Paige’s vision and ultimately her remaining eye is to travel to and from New York City for a very promising and specialized type of chemotherapy to be administered on a monthly basis. Her care has been completely turned over to this team and we expect to make this trip many times over the next four years.
Little Paige has been such a trooper and an amazing fighter in just her short 15 months of life. She is always happy and you would never know by looking at her that she is a cancer patient. We are hopeful that this new treatment will help her to finally kick this cancer once and for all!
