How/when did you get involved in CrossFit? What has motivated you to stick with it?
I got involved with CrossFit about a year ago. Some old co-workers, Jen Muniz and Jay Plansky from the UES, would talk about it a lot and they piqued my interest. I think I stick with it due to the incredible feeling you get after an intense WOD or when you PR a lift you’ve been working on.

What do you enjoy most about being a member at EVF?
Working out as a group. The people I’ve met are awesome and provide the exact level of intensity, competition, and camaraderie that makes CF so fun.

Do you remember your first workout? Looking back how did it go?
I don’t remember the workout so much as the asthma attack that came after it. But I came back!

What were your goals when you first started? How have they changed?
My goals haven’t changed very much. I work out to stay healthy and that’s still my number one goal.

How have you grown in that time — health, body, mind, etc.?
I have definitely been able to test my limits with CrossFit, both physical and mental. I think EVF has taught me when to push my self and when to pull back a bit.

Favorite lift and WOD?
My favorite lift seems to change daily but right now I’d say overhead squats because when I started I was really bad at them. For my favorite WOD I would say DT.

Least favorite movement and workout?
Anything involving pull-ups.

What drives you through the door each day?
The feeling I have when I leave EVF is what keeps me coming back. Regardless of how the workout goes, I always feel like I’ve achieved something.

Do you have any advice for new members?
If you’re not sure about something, ask! Usually a lot of people have the same question.

What do you hope to achieve in the coming year?
I would like to continue to work on my Olympic lifting, complete more WODs at the Rx weight, and do Murph this summer!
